When you proceed to update a primary artist name changing it into a new one in the platform, it might happen that a new artist profile is created in some channels, such as Spotify. Being aware of this information is highly important, as the creation of a new artist profile often implies the loss of the previous followers.
To avoid this inconveniences, please follow the steps suggested below. And don't worry about the plays, as they are strictly related to the ISRC codes they will stay undimmed through the update.
1. CHANGE THE PRIMARY ARTIST NAME in all the sections (in the tab "1. Release info" and in each track).
A quick trick: if you go to "Catalogue" > "Artists" and change the name directly from there, the name will be automatically updated in all the releases, to avoid having to modify it in each space.
Take into account that you may have to change the name in "2. Licenses" and in the rights publishing line of each track. This procedural must be done manually. To go faster, go to "Catalogue" > "Tracks", an open every track in a new tab.
2. REQUEST AN UPDATE (U) TO ALL CHANNELS, the same where the release was previously distributed (the release must stay the same in all the channels).
To do so, open the release and go to the tab "6. Distribution". There, click on "Update in all channels".
