How can I see the UPC and ISRCs of an edited CD?

If you have an edited audio CD, you can view the UPC (barcode) and ISRCs as follows:

For Mac

Step 1: Insert the CD

Step 2: Open Applications > Utilities > Terminal

• UPC: In Terminal write "drutil cdtext" + ENTER.

If it has been manufactured correctly, all the CD metadata will appear, including the UPC. Sometimes in this step the ISRCs also appear.

• ISRC: If the ISRCs did not appear in the previous step, in Terminal write ¨drutil subchannel | grep ISRC¨.

If it has been manufactured correctly, all the metadata of the tracks will appear, including the ISRC. It may take a long time and a lot of “Matrix” type data will appear, but there you will see the ISRCs. The result is a simple list of ISRCs:

There are many CD authoring programs that allow you to view ISRCs. A very good tool is Exact Audio Copy. Once the program is installed, in the Tools or Tools tab, you can select "Retrieve UPC / ISRC codes in CUE sheet generation". If you load a CD on your computer, press Alt + s to generate the fact sheet:
