Spotify: Songwriter pages (BETA)

Spotify is implementing a beta version of songwriter pages, which helps fans, collaborators and industry partners dive deeper into some of the creators behind their favourite songs.

The beta of songwriter pages is a new way to share the songs you’ve written on Spotify and get discovered by potential collaborators and fans.

When songwriters (“composers” in our platform) are credited on a track, listeners can click songwriters’ names to view a page showcasing the songs they’ve written. If the track has been linked to a songwriter page, then users will be able to click the songwriter’s name to go to their songwriter’s page, which will feature a list of the songs you’ve written and your most frequent artist collaborators.

Here below an example: This song by “Bas” has been written by “Missy Elliott” (among others). Her name “Melissa Elliott” is now in white (linked):

Then, when users click in her name in the “Show Credits” tab, Spotify will lead listeners to Missy Elliot’s songwriter page (external link):

Simultaneously, each songwriter page automatically features a new “Written By” playlist of your songs (so users can listen and enjoy the songs inside the app, not only check them on the external page). Spotify listeners will be able to discover these playlists via search and follow them, too.

Please note, Spotify is currently testing songwriter pages with a small, diverse number of publishers and songwriters, so not all songwriter names within the credits will be clickable at this time.

As the product is in the pilot phase, Spotify is working directly with publishers to set up the pages. As publishers, we can express our interest by filling out this form on behalf of our clients or redirecting them to the form.
